Sermon on the mount

This is a summarized version of the Sermon on the Mount. It is a collection of sayings spoken by Jesus in Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7. I have summarized freely. This makes sense to me.

The Essential Sermon on the Mount

Blessed are those who hunger after righteousness,
Blessed are the merciful and the peacemakers,
Answer questions directly with a yes or no.

Do not swear Oaths, Do not kill,
Do not be angry with your brother.
Do not commit adultery or lie.

An eye for an eye is wrong,
If hit on right cheek, turn to him the other,
If a man takes your coat, give him your cloak.

Whoever compels you to go a mile, go two miles,
Give to him that asks you, do not turn away.
Love your enemies, bless them.

Be perfect as the Lord in heaven is perfect.
When you do charity, do it in secret,
When you pray do not ask for things.

The Lord knows what you need.
Pray like this:

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come, thy will will be done on earth, as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
and Forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those who trespass against us
Leave us not when in temptation, but deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever
Amen
.

Forgive others and you will be forgiven.
Where your treasure is. is where your heart will be.
No man can serve two masters, for he will hold one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon.

Take no thought for your life, what you eat, drink or your cloths.
Look at the birds and the lilies in the field.
God takes care of them, O you of little faith.
Seek the kingdom of God and God will take care of you.

Judge not, lest you be judged. You notice a speck in your brothers eye but a log is in yours. Ask, and it shall be given you,
knock and it shall be opened for you.
For who would give your son a rock if he asks for bread?

Enter the narrow gate that few will find,
The wide gate that leads to destruction.
Beware of false prophets,
They come in sheeps clothing, but they are wolves.

By the fruit you shall know them,
A good tree brings forth good fruit.
A tree that bears bad fruit will be cast into the fire.

Hear this and act accordingly, Be like the wise man who builds his house on a rock and not the fool who builds his house on sand so that when it rains it is washed away

Thessalonians

A letter to the Thessalonians by Paul the Apostle. The letter is addressed to the church in Thessalonica, in modern-day Greece. It is likely among the first of Paul’s letters, probably written by the end of AD 52.

My totally awesome interpretation

Say nice things
Enjoy your work and get along
Encourage the faint-hearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone
Walk away from shams
Turn the other cheek
Be happy, pray and give thanks
Do not quench the spirit
Listen to the prophets but do not be a dupe, if it is not win win its crap
Abstain from every form of evil
It is going to be cool
